Identify Personality Traits in 15 Seconds

How to Identify Your Personality, Strengths & Weaknesses in 15 Seconds and Make It Work For You

by: Jacqueline Wales

I bet you that in 15 seconds, I can read your personality and tell you what your skills, strengths and weaknesses are – and how to make it work for you in business.

Reading personalities is an art form, and an extremely potent way of connecting with people in a deep, meaningful way. In business a deep, meaningful connection means lasting profitable relationships. It’s also a powerful way to get to know their greatest strengths and also, their greatest weaknesses. You will be surprised at the difference between the two.

Once you’re able to identify your own personality with an exercise I’m about to reveal, you’ll be able to read your prospects’, customers’ and co-workers’ personality and connect with them in a way you never thought possible.

A Simple Exercise to Help You Identify Your Personality

Based on four shapes – a cube, a pyramid, a wavy line and a ball – I’d like you to think about what shape resonates with you the strongest. What would be your first choice? What’s your second choice?

List the four shapes in the order that appeals to you.

Once you complete this exercise, read on to find out your personality type.

What is Your Personality?

The first shape is the cube – The Systems Person.

You are an analytical person who likes to cross the T’s and dot the I’s. Your greatest strength is your ability to think things through, analyze in detail and avoid fatal mistakes. But your greatest strengths can also be your greatest weakness because you can be held back when you analyze too much. You tend to hesitate in making decisions until you have all the facts and you generally refuse to take risks or act spontaneously without the facts. Making mistakes is not an option, so you limit the opportunities that come your way as a result. You are task driven, and need to be less picky with other people so you can relax and enjoy the view.

The second shape is the pyramid – The Results Person.

You are driven to succeed. Results are important, and reaching your goals is number one. You want to move as quickly as possible and sometimes you push too hard and jump into the action too fast without having all the facts available to you. This can slow you down. You need to learn from the analytical and try to not be so pushy. You are a control freak! While it will help you succeed, it won’t make you the most popular person around. Learn to slow down and inhale the fresh air. Give people more room to come on board and learn how to have more fun just for the sake of it.

The third shape is the wavy line – The Idea Person.

You have an extreme amount of energy, excitement and enthusiasm for life. You are an ideas person who has a million of them. Unfortunately, you don’t always follow-through on these ideas because you don’t focus long enough to figure out what will work. Before you know it, you’re dancing onto the next idea. Keeping up with you is hard, but if you slow down, pay attention to the details, and learn to be more focused on the task at hand, there is no limit to what you can get done.

The fourth shape is the ball – the People Pleaser.

You just want to make people happy and will quickly raise your hand when someone needs help. However, your ability to take care of others doesn’t extend to yourself. You quickly take on more than you can handle which builds resentment. You are stubborn and generate a great deal of pride, which stops you from sharing your feelings in a meaningful way. You would do well by learning how to move out of passive and into action so you can say NO and mean it. Worry less about what other people do and think, and work more on the tasks at hand and you will succeed.

Confront Your Fears and Grow

by: Ruth Bridgewood

“If you want to be successful, you must be willing to be uncomfortable.” Gil Eagles, Motivational Speaker

To realise your potential and achieve your goals, you must be willing to be uncomfortable – to do things that you’re afraid to do. Although that sounds simple, most people back away when they face a frightening situation. However, life’s “winners” are usually the people who do the things others are afraid to do. For example, one of the most successful people I know is a guy who is totally comfortable with “cold calling” (making unsolicited phone calls). Because he has no fear of rejection whatsoever, he has become a millionaire and has built a business employing dozens of people.

To be a successful person, you must confront your fears and take action!

The Comfort Zone

If you’ve ever been gripped by fear and anxiety before trying some new activity or venture, it’s usually because you’re stepping out of your comfort zone. This is an important concept which has a direct link to your success and the development of your potential.

Each of us has a comfort zone, a zone of behavior that is familiar to us and where we feel comfortable and safe. Think of your comfort zone as the inside of a circle. The activities and situations that lie inside the circle are the routine and familiar parts of your everyday life, such as speaking with family and friends or completing your usual daily tasks at work or home.

However, you occasionally face experiences or challenges that are outside your comfort zone. When faced with something outside your comfort zone, you suddenly feel nervous or worried about the outcome of the situation. You question yourself “Can I handle it?”, “Will they laugh at me?” “What will people think?”

Think about what fears are holding you back from reaching the next level of success or fulfilment in your life. Whatever it is, just be honest and admit it. Most likely, thousands, if not millions, of people have the very same fear you have! In fact, let’s take a closer look at what most people are afraid of.

The Most Common Fears

Jeff Keller, author of “Attitude is Everything” tells how, during his presentations, he distributes index cards to the audience members and asks them to write down, anonymously, the fears that are standing in the way of their professional and personal growth. Then, he collects the cards and read them aloud.

What do you think people write on those index cards? In most audiences, regardless of profession or geographical location, the same answers come up again and again. Here are some of the most common fears they identify:

1. Public Speaking or Giving Presentations. In virtually every group, this is the #1 fear. The vast majority of people are terrified about speaking in front of a group of people.

2. Hearing the word “NO” or having their ideas rejected. This response is very common among salespeople, especially those who make cold calls.

3. Changing Jobs or Starting Their Own Business. Over the years, more and more people are listing this fear. We have a lot of unhappy workers in corporate Australia today, and they yearn for a more satisfying work environment… but they’re afraid to do anything about it!

4. Telling Managers or Executives “Negative News” (what the managers or executives don’t want to hear). This one is self-explanatory.

5. Talking to People in Upper Management. Many entry-level workers and even managers are terrified about speaking to executives in the company. They even hesitate to make “small talk” with the president or CEO of their organization – for fear they’ll say some-thing silly or appear stupid.

6. Fear of Failure. Those who won’t try something new for fear that it won’t work out.

Well, are you surprised by any of the fears on this list? Do you have any of them now – or have you had them in the past? The truth is, the overwhelming majority of people experience these fears at some point in their lives.

And if you have some fears that weren’t on this list, don’t worry about it. You are stronger than any of your fears… and you can overcome them!

Living The Utopia Of Now

The Utopia of Now

by: Julia Allworth

Where am I running? What am I looking for? It seems like a funny idea and yet I, like many others, am running towards a utopia that I will never find. Sometimes I think that human beings are designed this way, programmed in constant search of a light at the end of the tunnel.

What does it take to live peacefully in the moment? How can I be fully satisfied with the status quo? Perhaps I need to live for today – accept life the way it is exactly at this moment and stop trying to change things. The universe is in constant change and yet all I really want to do is hold still – to be still in a moment where there is no fear, no pain, hurt, guilt or shame. Is this peaceful moment now? If it doesn’t feel like it can I imagine it and then it will appear? If I imagine it is now – will it stay?

I am always advising others that no matter what our situation, we are always in full control of our own actions. Perhaps this peacefulness I seek is a choice. Maybe I have to choose to let the binding emotions go – to release fear, guilt, shame, anger, resentment and all other harmful emotions and just be still. Just exist in peace with myself regardless of where I am and what my circumstance.

Will this choice to allow peace in the moment have any impact on my destiny? If energy is always flowing then I always have energy inside of me. If my energy goes from negative to positive will my life change? My guess is yes – and I think the reason is simple:

1) LIKE ATTRACTS LIKE: If my energy is positive I have more positive energy coming in to my life. If negative energy surrounds me I will act as a magnet for more negative energy.

So how do I change my energy?

2) FOR EVERY ACTION, THERE IS AN EQUAL AND OPPOSITE REACTION: It takes incredible strength but I must exert only positive energy to change my life and re-establish the energy that surrounds me.

But here is the trap:

If I am in an abyss of negative energy I feel that I am stuck. I can’t change my circumstance. I feel I am a victim of a curse – bad luck. It is easy for me to feel this way but as long as I do I am stuck.

So the question is – NO the CHALLENGE is how do I stake steps to change the energy that surrounds me from negative to positive?

The only thing that is for sure is that I am in full control of my own actions. Even the choice not to act is an action. Every choice I make is an action which I have full control over. I can change my situation by changing myself.

Until I change myself I will be stuck in my own curse.

This is why God brings people into my life to remind me of the choices that I have.

So the choice is simple: will I seek pay-back or pay it forward? Will I choose to feel anger or see the lesson to be learned? Will I act in a way that is selfish or selfless? Will I be a victim of my circumstances or a warrior fighting to achieve my goals? Will I choose to let small things bother me or will I choose to let them go? Will I throw a pity-party or believe that I am worthy of all the goodness, prosperity and blessings that God has to offer?

When will I make the choice to enjoy the utopia of now?
