Esoteric Philosophy

Positive Effects Of Universal Esoteric Philosophy

by: Robert Waxman

If you’re curious about esoteric philosophy, you may be wondering, “What can this stuff do for me?” Here’s a promise I will make to you without hesitation. If you will open your mind and put aside your judgments, negativity, rock-solid beliefs and resistance to new ideas, then you will definitely benefit by learning the fundamental concepts of The Ancient Wisdom Tradition.

On the other hand, if you have your life all figured out and have answers to all of life’s most perplexing questions, then there’s nothing more for you to learn. So, with nothing more to learn, you cannot grow – in fact, you can only grow old. So, if this “perennial philosophy” is not your cup of tea – on this particular occasion – who knows? Maybe you’ll return and reconsider its teachings at a later date.

Unfortunately, sometimes it takes a life-threatening event (some call it an ‘accident’), the loss of a loved one, a failed marriage, the realization that you hate your job, the loss of a financial fortune or a desperate feeling of disappointment before you’re ready to listen. So, what should you be listening to? That is the question. The ancient teachings of the world’s greatest philosophers will provide all the answers.

You may not realize it, but you are programmed from birth to fit into your family, community, religious group, race, heritage and nationality. You are bred to conform to a set of rules intended to lead you down the primrose path. Your intended destination is the promised land of love, happiness, contentment, tranquility and joy.

So, why – at some point in your life – have you become disappointed, disillusioned or depressed? You grew up with a rulebook that promised love, acceptance, social status, personal fulfillment and financial success. So, what went wrong along the way? Maybe nothing –or maybe everything.

Herein lies Fundamental Proposition Number One:

YOU MUST TRUST YOURSELF.

Most of us have grown-up using a rulebook filled with false ideas. Now, that’s a very strong statement, but I’ve tempered it by using the words, “false ideas” instead of ‘lies’. You see, false ideas eventually become lies when they are presented to you as truth. This is happening every minute of every hour of every day. In fact, you are being bombarded with false ideas all the time. There are so many false ideas floating around, that you may not be able to distinguish the true from the false any longer.

Please understand, it’s not your fault that you bought-into the ‘false-idea’ program – almost everyone does. You’ve been surrounded by false ideas – non-stop – everyday of your life. In fact, if you didn’t need to sleep, the bombardment would continue 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Needless to say, there were some false ideas presented to you in the original rulebook given to you in childhood. However, at this stage in your life, do really want to debate the merits of this old rulebook? Probably not. Neither did Scrooge, but he was forced to, and his life was completely transformed. Unfortunately, you don’t have three guardian angels to lead you through the process in one night, but you can evaluate your past, present and future by evaluating where you are in life and who you’ve become. In fact, “you’re where are, because of who you are”.

Right around our birthdays, most people like to review the events of the prior year and set new goals for themselves. But, if you’re living by the universal truths of The Ancient Wisdom Tradition, everyday is your spiritual birthday, as you continue to purify yourself on a daily basis. You can start this process by dissecting the original rulebook that formed the foundations of your belief system. Once you’ve taken a good hard look at the inner core of “who you’ve become”, the only remaining question will be: can you continue to play by the rules from the original rulebook of childhood?

If you believe that your life could be better, then the time has come for a new rulebook filled with true ideas. Fortunately, you already possess all the true ideas you’ll ever need. In fact, no one can teach them to you because they’re buried deep down inside of you.

Obviously, someone cannot give you what you already have. But, every once in a while – we all need a reminder. Ancient Esoteric Philosophy is that body of knowledge that serves as a reminder that all universal truth comes from within. This wisdom was given to you when you received the gift of life. So, now it’s time to wipe off the dust, open the magic box and let the wisdom of your Soul flow through you naturally. Believe me, my friends; it’s never too late.

Ending Violence Quickly

Martial Arts Book Review: Ending Violence Quickly by Marc “Animal” MacYoung

by: Shawn Kovacich

Being the author of several books on the martial arts and fighting, I am always looking for books of exceptional quality to add to my library. If I have a book in my library, it’s definitely worth owning. One such book is Marc “Animal” MacYoung’s, “Ending Violence Quickly.”

As I have said before, one of the great things that I absolutely love about Marc’s books is his no-holds barred direct approach to getting his point across. There is never any sugarcoating or politically correct terminology is his books. He simply tells it like it is, whether you like it or not.

Once again, Marc gives you a no-holds barred look at the reality of fighting and surviving on the street. This book is simply loaded with sound principles and easy to learn techniques for making the most of a bad situation. I find the information on the principles behind the techniques very useful, and it is usually a very good indicator of a high quality self-defense and/or martial arts book.

Marc starts off this book with a chapter devoted to the escalation of violence, and why it is generally not a good idea to do so. Although it tends to be a common occurrence in today’s society, the more preferred method should almost always be de-escalating the situation into a non-violent resolution, rather than escalating it.

Chapter two delves into the subject of awareness and triggers. A trigger being the point at which you have previously decided is the time when a specific course of action is to be taken. Similar to what some call a point of no return. This section also goes into the different types of attackers and some of the cues to look for that usually take place immediately prior to an attack. Marc brings up a very good point in this section where he tells you that you should never wait for the actual physical attack to strike, but for the intent of your attacker to strike.

The next chapter takes a look at the physiology and psychology of violence and also a very good technique which Marc calls an attitude interrupter. This is something that a psychiatrist would call, patter interruption. This is a technique which is used to momentarily take an individuals focus away from what they are doing and put it on something else. Marc gives a real good example of this using a naked lady.

Chapter four deals with an often neglected and misunderstood technique called footwork. Footwork is something that any good boxing instructor will tell you is the foundation of a good boxer. Applying proper footwork can get you out of the line of fire quickly, or it can also be used to put your entire body behind a blow. This is an outstanding section in an otherwise very good book.

“Counters and Blocks” is the next chapter and just like the title alludes to, deals with blocking and countering your opponents attack. However, Marc points out a very important strategic maneuver that is often overlooked by many martial artists and self-defense instructors alike. If you aren’t in your attackers’ line of attack, how can he hit you? In other words, avoiding the attack in the first place is preferable to blocking it.

Chapters six, seven, and eight deal with various techniques you can utilize in order to take your opponent to the ground while maintaining your standing position. They also discuss at length various sneaky tricks that you can use to take your opponents base of support out from underneath him. With the intended effect of having him lose his balance and eventually fall to the ground.

Chapter nine talks about what Marc refers to as slaving, which is when you use your opponents own weight and momentum against them. Exactly like what you would see in Judo and Aikido.

What follows next is a brief chapter on how to deal with various weapons that you are likely to encounter in a self-defense situation. Just like the rest of this book, the principles behind dealing with weapons are by far more important than the actual techniques themselves. I especially liked the last page in this section that showed what a potential attacker may look like as he is reaching for a weapon.

The last chapter deals with the basic instinct for survival of the species and dealing with situations in a professional manner. Both of these section in this last chapter are very educational and should be taken to heart, although the section on professionalism tends to be geared more for the bouncer than the average person, it is still very good knowledge to have and to apply.

Marc finishes this book with a great section on the effects of alcohol on a person as related to violence, and the four types of violence that you may encounter. This section is very well done (as is the rest of the book) and could actually be devoted to an entire volume, which in my opinion it should be. Of course my favorite section is the one devoted to “Murphy’s Law.” Marc can be reached via his web site at: http://ift.tt/rW2Zdg

3 Steps to Change Your World

Reality Therapy – 3 Steps to Change Your World

By

change-your-reality Reality therapy is an interesting concept, encompassing the ability and technique to change, improve, and enhance your world and your reality. We all see our environment in very different ways, and, therefore, we each live in very different worlds. Your world, your atmosphere, your essence is unique to you, and only you.

That’s why it’s so easy to change when you really put your mind to it. You don’t need anyone’s help or approval or permission to morph your surroundings and put yourself in the absolute best position to succeed and enjoy life.

3 Steps of Reality Therapy

  1. Lights, camera, (take) ACTION! All of these philosophies from books like “The Secret” and other self-help books are great for inspiration and motivation, but you can read every single one of them, and absolutely nothing will change until you take ACTION! So many people expect some magical door to open and all the answers will come floating down and land softly on their well-meaning, radiant noses. You have to DO something to change something.

  2. Write it down. Speaking of action, start right now. Figure out what you want to achieve (make it something small at first). Write down your desired end-goal, word for word. For example, “I will have this report finished and written by Thursday night at 9PM. My first action is to go to the library and check out a book on the Civil War.” It may seem silly, but your brain has a sneaky way of shifting things to the back burner and hiding them away in nooks and crannies — physical words on physical paper aren’t nearly as forgiving.

  3. Tell the world. Now that you’ve told yourself, tell everyone else. As much self-discipline as you may have, making yourself accountable to others will provide a much-needed boost to follow through and show everyone what you’re capable of achieving.

Start practicing reality therapy today, then watch and enjoy as your world adapts to the new you.
