The 6 “Secrets” To Sales Success

by: tony pola

blond girl with headphonesThere is no magic pill, trick, teqnique, system or secret to success. However there are many beliefs and habits that will bring you the desired results that you wish to have. It is your choice to develop the appropriate beliefs and habits that produce the results that you wish to have. If you honestly are not happy with the results that you are having then you must change the actions, which are producing those results. The following are 6 of the habits, which I have found will rapidly accelerate your sales and income to heights, which only you will limit.

The number one “secret” in order to boost you sales is Activity. There are 3 ways to increase your income in sales 1. Activity, 2. Closing ratio, and 3. Average job size. The easiest of these three ways is to increase your activity. You cannot sell jobs if you are not consistently delivering written Quotes and asking for the order. Many salespeople pre-judge, and pre-qualify (or disqualify) their prospects and never deliver the proposal, which will solve their potential clients needs. Many salespeople also deliver the proposal but then fail to ask for the order and close.

The second “secret” is your Belief . You must have positive beliefs, and thoughts at all time. These beliefs will create the proper actions and habits. As Mike Litman (author of Conversations With Millionaires) says people form habits and habits form futures.

6a00d8341da52a53ef0148c6cf079c970c-800wiThe third “secret” thing you need to do is be Committed. You have to be committed to yourself, your product or service, your company, and above all your beliefs. If you choose to believe you can or believe you cannot, you are correct in both instances. You must be committed to consistently deliver a predetermined number of proposals each day, week, month, and year. Your number of sales will increase indirect proportion to the number of proposals you deliver. This must be done with what I call absolute “No Option Behavior”. You must be committed 100% to deliver a proposal to every prospect you sit with and also to ask for the order from every prospect you give a proposal too.

The fourth “secret” is Disipline. You must develop new disciplines, which will then produce new results. This should be done to all aspects of your life social.financial, professional, physical, and spiritual.

Sales-Woman_2The fifth “secret” is Enthusiasm. Always remember that the first thin a prospect must buy is you and that enthusiasm sells. You must avoid negative people, negative habits, and negative thoughts and constantly expose yourself to positive thinking.

The sixth “secret” is Focus. You must have goals (the seventh “secret”) and a plan to get there. When you have goals and focus on the little steps (habits and disciplines) you will receive all that you desire. You must focus on the results and outcomes and not on the process, it is just as easy to develop new disciplines and actions one step at a time then it is to continue with your old habits and disciplines that are producing results, which you are unhappy with.

Blind Spots in Business and in Life

Are You Missing Your Blind Spot?

By

201109-orig-blind-spot-600x411Over the years while driving I’ve been surprised many times when I found someone hidden in my blind spot. Of course I’ve made it a habit to check my blind spot before making a move, and it’s certainly avoided many potential collisions. I’m sure you do the same.

However, are you taking a similar approach to other life and business situations? All of us have blind spots. Maybe it’s in a relationship that’s having problems, maybe it’s around keeping in shape and healthy. But without a doubt most of us have blind spots in our businesses.

These blind spots can cause you to keep doing things even though they aren’t working. Are you working hard and not getting the results you want? Chances are you’ve got a blind spot. Most often, I see people trying to market their business in a way that just doesn’t work simply because they don’t know what they don’t know. You may be trying certain marketing activities and assuming they will bring in new subscribers and clients, only to be disappointed. I call this your Marketing Blind Spot. Very simply, you need to pay attention to your blind spot and eliminate it so you can move forward.

blindSpotLgWhat you don’t know can keep you stuck and frustrated. There are many areas in your business where you can unconsciously overlook a blind spot. This is often caused simply by a lack of knowledge or skills. I see people overspending on poor web design, or spending huge amounts of time doing things manually that could be automated, or chasing after every idea that comes along. I see people struggling year after year with ineffective marketing because they don’t know enough about how to best promote their products and services. But if you don’t know the elements of an effective website, or what it should cost, or if you don’t know what tools to use to automate, or that they even exist, or you really don’t have a proven marketing system, then those blind spots will cost you lost time and money.

Your blind spot could also fall in the area of what I call the “entrepreneurial mindset“. You could be blind to the true value of your services and what you really could be charging. Or you could be blind to an ingrained belief or habit that’s sabotaging your best efforts. That’s why it’s so important to get feedback from people who you trust and who will be very honest with you and hold you accountable. It doesn’t matter how successful you are, we all have our blind spots.

Here are a few steps you can take to identify and begin to eliminate your blind spots:

  1. For one week make a list of situations in your business that make you feel stuck, overwhelmed, frustrated or confused.

  2. Hold a magnifying glass up to each one and ask yourself-”Is there something I’m not seeing here that is causing this problem and that I need to change?”

  3. Then ask yourself where you can go to brainstorm the problem and get a new, fresh perspective. Make sure you go to someone who doesn’t have the same problem. So for example, if I had a rough time being organized in my business, I’d seek feedback from someone I trust who is very organized.

Comforting girlfriendSometimes you will not be able to see your blind spot, so you’ll need to work with a coach, mastermind group, or trusted colleague who will delve deeper to identify where you are overlooking something important or where you need to learn a new habit, change a belief, learn a new system, gain a new skill or master new knowledge.

Make it a habit to check for blind spots every time you feel stuck or you’re not happy with the results you’re getting. Maybe you had a product launch that didn’t work (we’ve all been there). Maybe you’re trying your hand at article marketing and you don’t see any results. Maybe you’re having trouble closing sales with people that you know need your help. You can be sure there’s something you’re not aware of, something you’re not seeing, or something you need to learn to turn it around.

If you keep asking yourself and those you trust, “where is my blind spot in this situation”, rather than just feeling disappointed and discouraged, you’ll be able to not only avoid potential “collisions”, but you’ll gain the sight you need to really soar.

How Trust Can Backfire in Business

Doing Business Based on Trust and How it Can Backfire

by: Peter Cheater

This article is intended as a general warning to anyone embarking on a business venture with someone who you believe you can trust, or who you have worked with for a long period of time.

The article is written following an arrangement with a man called Peter White who is the sole proprietor of a mortgage business named either Aston Mortgages and Ownbuild. What happened should warn others about some of the dangers of partnerships based on trust.

Peter was a longstanding former client of a business I worked in as a web marketing director for several years. I had no reason at the time to think that Peter was anything other than honest and straightforward, albeit he was always shall we say looking to squeeze down prices and obtain services at a reduced rate.

After the company I worked for, and that Aston Mortgage was a client of, went into administration we kept in touch. During the following year Peter came to me with a number of business propositions relating to websites. I rejected all but one, which seemed to have some potential. Because of my long term business relationship with Aston Mortgages I went ahead with this without a proper agreement – only an email from Peter stipulating the terms of the agreement. At the time I had no reason not to trust him but realize now this was foolish and despite the 50:50 split on all commissions promised in his email, Aston Mortgage did not honour the agreement.

As Mr White had very cleverly set Aston Mortgages up as the sole recipient of the commissions and had control of both the website password and the Google marketing campaign, after paying out on a few of these, I believe greed got the better of him.

He changed the password to the website and the Google campaign and then has refused to pay over 6000 GBP owed under our arrangement.

In addition to warning others, having spent a lot of time and money on legal proceedings in the past I decided the best way to get repayment is to name and shame using the web as the most effective way.

The lesson for others is make sure you have a binding legal agreement with anyone you go into business with, even if you have known them for years. I would also caution anyone to avoid penny pinchers- I didn’t do this with the owner of Ownbuild and paid the price.
