How To Be More Conscious

How To Live with Presence of Mind

by: Susan Russo

“One reason so few of us achieve what we truly want is that we never direct our focus; we never concentrate our power. Most peopel dabble their way through life, never deciding to master anything in particular.”

-Tony Robbins

We all live in the presence of mind but most of us are unaware of doing so. Our minds are at work every second on a conscious and subconscious level, even when we are sleeping.

You don’t really think to tell your body to breathe or to make sure your heart is beating. You aren’t on organ patrol, keeping a vigilant eye on everything working a-okay. Your mind handles that just fine without you being cognizant of all that it entails.

And, on the other hand we are bombarded daily making conscious decisions and we are typically unconscious when making them, i.e. how to drive to work, cooking, going about our jobs, what’s for lunch, when to meet clients, what time to pick up the kids and on and on.

We do most things by rote and we live unconsciously. It’s simply habit; it’s what we are all used to. At the same time we are doing all of these things, we are also thinking some 60,000 thoughts a day which for the most part we are totally unaware of. They simply take over. And, they play over and over and over in your mind.

Many are based on old beliefs about life and ourselves, they are thoughts ingrained in us through experiences, attitudes and misdirected focus.

And, as you know, what we focus on throughout the day, we will attract to ourselves. So if worry, stress, fear, jealousy, anger and all of the other limiting emotions are what you unconsciously and habitually hold onto, well, take a guess how you are going to feel and what you are going to experience.

On the other hand, if you learn how to break this unconscious mental cycle and flip the script you will be surprised at the outcome. If you change your mind, you WILL change your life!

The easiest way to tune into your mental radio and see what channel you are listening to is to ask yourself this simple question, “How do I feel?” Good or bad? This is the best litmus test for you to get in touch with what you are thinking and what you are focused on.

Because of the fact that our thoughts control how we feel, be dead certain that however you answer the question it is in direct correlation to those exact thoughts you say to yourself about any given situation over and over and over again.

When wanting to change something in your life no matter what it is, even if it’s simply to change bad thinking, the key is to become aware of what it is you are saying to yourself about whatever it is.

Using the “how am I feeling” technique works if you use it. There are times when I have wanted to focus on some particular situation. I even use this when I want to be more in the presence of God or to be more aware of being thankful.

I will set an alarm to go off every half hour or so and when it does, I stop what I am doing and even if it is just for 30 seconds, I re-focus my thoughts to what I want to think about.

That being said, if you use the above method, in an 8 hour day, you will be shifting your focus 16 times a day more than you are now. Compared to the time you currently spend on focusing on being thankful or directing your thoughts to what you want (and not what you don’t want) will make a huge difference!

By becoming more in tune to what you want and keeping your thoughts focused on a desire or goal, you will begin to break old habits and replace them with new ones.

Learning to live in the presence of your mind will literally change how you live and what you experience. It’s kind of like working out. At first you may not be used to it, it’s tough getting started and you’re sore. But the more you do it, the stronger you become and the better you feel.

It’s the same with training your mind. At first it may feel awkward but the more you do it, it will eventually become a habit. Replace the old worn out thoughts that do nothing for improving your life to those that do everything toward enhancing it.

So, if you are sitting around living your life on auto-pilot and wondering why nothing is working, changing or improving. Tune into the station you are listening to and if you like what you hear then turn it up.

If you don’t, it’s not worth listening to. Change the channel and listen to something else that can bring harmony, peace, abundance and all of your hearts desires. It’s all about what you focus on!

How to be Happy and Stay Happy

By Gracie Canfield

Most of us experience happiness as momentary feelings of pleasure during the highs and lows of daily life. However, it is possible to know happiness on an ongoing basis by practicing right thinking and the practical use of universal laws.

Many people at this time are in search of a tried and true solution to happiness through whatever means they can find. “How to be Happy” is even a question that is searched on the Web using Google over 60,000 times around the world every month. So many searches appears to be a powerful indication of discontent within the general population.

There’s quite a bit of advice available by self-help books and internet based sources about following your heart and offering gratitude as avenues to obtaining happiness – and these are excellent factors, but what about those who don’t actually experience that gratitude, or simply don’t have the assets to follow their heart? There must be a bit more to happiness than these suggestions.

Find Happiness by Applying Universal Laws

What is it about your present state of affairs that is less than gratifying? Maybe it’s the absence of quality relationships, too much debt or a job that you don’t like. You can start right now to change your life for the better and learn how to be happy by being conscious of particular universal laws that govern reality.

Your present state of affairs in life is generally a result of ideas, choices and actions taken within the past. The quality of those actions will determine the standard of your life. In other words, the universe will throw back to you what you give out. This is the universal law of cause and effect and there’s no preference for good or bad – it works in any case. Wishful thinking has no bearing on this law and is the reason why so many people fail in getting what they want in life.

Begin by Watching Your Thoughts…

Your capability for happiness arises with the working knowledge of this law. Begin by practicing the Golden Rule and make it a mission to treat others as you would like to be treated – and see what happens over time. This is easier said than done and you will make plenty of mistakes, however your life will be enhanced incrementally if you stick with it consistently.

Be aware your thoughts and follow them. Are they leading you to make rash or emotional decisions? Poor decisions result in ineffective actions which in turn down grade you standard of life. Having a wider awareness of this law is the key to bringing forth that happiness within. This happiness is in realizing you have the methods to make rewarding life adjustments that will last.

How To Stay Happy!

By

staying happy Happiness is a state of mind! Have you ever met someone who just seemed to be happy no matter what was going on in his or her life? They are pretty hard to find these days, but they are out there. What is the secret to their happy existence? What makes them stay happy even though it seems that the whole world around them has come crashing down?

These people know that true happiness is not based upon their circumstances. They know that in life, disappointments, hand ups, let downs and difficulties happen to everyone. Sometimes it seems like someone is out to get you! The movie, “The Pursuit of Happiness” was based on a true story of a man who was the single parent of a small boy. There were extreme trials his life took him through before he finally came out of it all with the true happiness he was seeking. He kept his faith, stayed the course and against all odds kept a positive outlook on life. If you have never seen the movie, I highly recommend that you do! It is an extremely good one in that it is very inspirational, encouraging and at the end, uplifting!

True happiness is not found in money! Many people think that if they only had a bunch of money, they would be truly happy! That is just not the case. Some of the unhappiest people in the world are also some of the richest people in the world. Look at the drug use and suicide rate of the rich and famous! Money can buy you things, bit it cannot buy you true love or real happiness!

True happiness comes from within! It takes a solid and unwavering determination to be happy! One must have a “no matter what” mindset! We must be thankful for what we do have and should not complain about what we do not have. A good way to accomplish this is to make a “Blessings Journal.” Sometimes when tough times or circumstances hit, we seem to forget just how blessed we actually are! Everyday write down 5 new things you are blessed with and thankful for. If you are really struggling with this, you likely have hands, feet, eyes, ears, and a nose. That starts you out. The second day, you can be thankful for you bed, the roof over your head, one of your friends, your health, and the fact that you are alive etc…

Stay Happy! Singing happy songs can really help too! Try to make some songs up; it works the best of all! Nobody will hear them but you, so who cares if they are off-key or don’t sound all that great! Just sing words of thanks and sing about how you won’t let things get you down! Sing things like: “I know things are going to get better!” “I am glad to be alive and I know I will make it through this!” Keep positive! Keep yourself from thinking negative thoughts. When one comes into your mind, reject it! Say out-loud so you can hear it yourself, “I reject that thought and my miracle is waiting just around the corner! I know everything will soon be better!”

mom-hold-baby_thinkstock_328 Do whatever you can to help make things better. If you have lost your job, as so many of us have lately, work diligently at getting another one. And if the job you wanted went to someone else, just say, “Well, I guess there is an even better one waiting around the bend for me!”

If you believe in prayer this is a good time to be praying. I have found it to be one of the most powerful forces on earth.

The fact is you have a choice to either be happy or be depressed. You choose which one you will be. Depression is stifling and will rob you of your incentive. It is like quicksand, always wanting to pull you down! There are no productive properties in depression at all! Happiness is just the opposite. It will produce positive thoughts and inventive ideas. Happiness is the key to success and victory! When one is happy, everything is moving forward whether it is actually visible or not. The universe and creativity are working with you and not against you when you are in a positive mind-set! So hold your head up high, be positive and happy and don’t let that evil robber depression have its way with you! You will come out on top if you are down right determined to be happy! “Don’t Worry, Be Happy!”
