How To Increase Your Awareness

Increase Your Self Confidence and Enjoy Life More

by: Jo Richards

Generally many people tend to see other people’s situation better than their own and wish to change something about themselves, if they can afford to. Also, some people exhibit excessive self confidence though in truth, they’re hiding behind the veneer of lack of self confidence or low self esteem.

Low self confidence is commonly expressed in talking oneself down not only in public but most significantly, self dialogue you have with yourself, which gets programmed in your mind and becomes a habitual mind-set or talking about yourself. Sometimes, individuals tend to make fun of themselves in a disparaging way. This habit doesn’t help in any way to improve your confidence. Lack of self confidence holds you back from enjoying many areas of life including unfulfilling relationships, career and personal improvement.

One of the key ingredients in the path to personal improvement is creating your self confidence with a view to living life to the full and harnessing your capability. Learning to improve your confidence will save you from toxic relationships, stagnant career or even inability to find a job, to mention a few.

But there’s good news: nothing stays the same in perpetuity and with some effort, you’ll be able to turn the situation round, begin to see a significant shift in your level of confidence. So how do you start? There are some basic self growth tips you need to know and be prepared to take the necessary steps to make it beneficial. Good intention without deed is simply worthless so here are some exercises to consider:

What are you most afraid of?

Until you determine what you could be afraid of, it will be a bit demanding initially to begin improving your self confidence. For instance, if you’re anxious about job interviews, do not deny that situation so that you could take steps to improve. By denying your fears, you are mainly hurting one person; you. Marcus Turllius Cicero said: “If you have no confidence in self, you are twice defeated in the race of life. With confidence, you have won even before you have started”.

Know yourself

The routine of building your confidence starts with appreciating yourself. It’s one thing to hold other people in high esteem but it’s another to put them above yourself or permit their opinions to gain more prominence than yours. Self awareness will enable you to get to know, appreciate and value who you are a lot better and learn to be your best self.

Log your thoughts

Writing is an excellent habit that makes you think a bit more. From writing, you will start to explore your deeper thoughts. Many accomplished people maintain journals, which in time will aid your thinking and behavioural patterns from which you’ll be able to do what it takes to succeed.

Adjust your internal thought processes

Your level of self confidence is directly linked to your inner dialogue. Simply imagine how you’d really feel if someone criticizes you or makes derogatory remarks about you. Would you simply curl up and passively accept it? If you are not willing to accept other people’s disrespect and sarcasms, why are you keen accept yours?

Perfection only exists in movies!

No one is complete in every way despite the fact that generally magazines try to depict that sense of perfection. Life is always expanding experience and there are many ups and downs on the way, so why should you expect yourself to be excellent in everything? Accept being your best self and embark on enhancing what you have.

Increase your self confidence with positive affirmations

Words are very highly effective particularly when spoken with desire. Positive affirmations are deliberately expressed positive statements that reflect your deepest desires and when repeated frequently, go a long way to establish new patterns of thought in your mind. The following are a few examples of affirmations to get you started. Remember that they should be positive, expressed in present tense and affirmative:

“I’m self confident and persuasive at next week’s interview”

“I’m capable and courageous”

“I’m confident in every situation”

“I approve of myself and feel good about myself”

Affirmations are not merely recited casually, it’s good to repeat them with intent and feeling, believing in the outcome you seek as if it has already been realized. These will assist to super-charge and build your self confidence.
