Unconditional Love – The Anecdote to Unhealthy Relationships

by: Joanne Goldman

Loving people can be particularly tricky when important relationships are unhealthy. It’s easier to love those you’re in healthy relationships with. If you’re up for changing and deepening all of the relationships around you, then I invite you to master the art of unconditional love. Unconditional love means that you love people with no agenda to your love. You love them because — you love them. You don’t love them so they’ll “do” something. You have no expectations in return for your love. Sound like a challenge? If you’re reading this then there’s a good chance you’re ready for raising your awareness around unconditional love!

Here are some tips on how to practice unconditional love:

1. Experience being love, free from anything else. It’s important to remember that unconditional love is a way of being, not a way of doing. That means it is more a feeling than a task. This can take some practice, as our society is filled with action-oriented activities. Practice unconditional love by sitting quietly, in your home or out in nature, or lying in bed at night, and just experience a state of love through your breathing. Let go of thoughts other than those about love. Bring someone to mind whom you love, or a place you love. If you practice this on a subway or bus, watch the faces of the strangers around you become alive and beautiful!

2. Take care of yourself first! Practicing unconditional love doesn’t necessarily mean to visit your family for Thanksgiving , leaving you wrecked for days and weeks. It doesn’t mean putting yourself in harm’s way physically, sexually or emotionally. You may practice from afar, if need be. There are no rules in what practicing unconditional love looks like.

3. Unconditional love starts with – you! If you’re focused on mastering unconditional love, there’s no better place to start than with yourself! You’ll experience compassion, acceptance and understanding as well as a greater sense of intimacy when you love yourself unconditionally. What we put out in the world we get back, so loving yourself unconditionally will be “mirrored” back to you by other people! It will seem as though they’ve miraculously changed, but you’ll know they’re responding to the unconditional love you’re exuding!

4. Unconditional love is meant to be shared and practiced with others – in your immediate family, in your community and with the world. There’s a saying that says, “Love isn’t love unless you give it away!” Imagine the world we’d be living in if unconditional love were practiced everywhere 24/7?

Just like any area of mastery, it may be best to start with small, attainable “wins” such as going above and beyond for people you have healthy friendships with. These are safe environments in which to experience giving and receiving unconditional love. Remember to be open to receiving unconditional love as well as giving it. However, if you expect to receive it from your actions, you’re putting a condition on the love you’re giving. Regardless of whether love happens to come back to you from others, the satisfaction of loving with no strings attached can put you on a different relationship level. The rewards will be sweeter than you ever imagined, as can only be experienced after putting unconditional love into play in your life!

As you learn the lessons of what it takes to build increasing intimacy, loving support and unprecedented relationships, your ability to unconditionally love those who are, let’s say, more difficult to find it in your heart to love, will improve. See, it’s not about the other person – it’s about YOU – practicing mastery in the area of unconditional love. It doesn’t matter if the other person doesn’t get it. It doesn’t matter if they do or don’t change. It doesn’t matter if they understand your actions or take in the love you have toward them. True mastery of unconditional love is greatly tested in unhealthy situations. The perfection in dealing with unhealthy relationships is that you can practice unconditional love full on. Not because you “should” love everyone, but because it is the way you want to live your life.

Keys to Business Etiquette

by: Silas Reed

Etiquette is presenting yourself in such a manner that urges people to take you seriously. Etiquette also means to be comfortable among the people and also make them feel comfortable around you. The key factor behind a business to be successful is the employees, customers and/or the trading partner. So etiquette always plays an important role for the success of an organization.

Basic qualities

Although there are a number of guidelines and basic keys to business etiquette, it depends on the people, situation, local culture and many other factors. Besides following the rules of manners one should keep an open mind while communicating with the people. One should respect other’s culture, feeling and thoughts and be cool as far as possible in case of a dispute and try to find the solution.

It is very hard for an ill-tempered person to succeed in any field which demands public relation including business. One must be courteous, thoughtful and generous about the people around him and should try to avoid any unintentional violation of manners for their part. These are the common and basic qualities of business etiquette and the key of being a successful businessman and/or professional.

Business etiquettes

Learning business etiquettes is very important for anyone associated with the corporate world. The keys to business etiquettes include the following:

Punctuality:

This is the quality which impresses most of the people. One should attend a meeting at the right time. It shows that the person is responsible and serious about the matter. So other persons feel respected and in turn they also respect the person.

Appearance:

One should show adequate interest, attention and ambition while communicating and should present himself in that manner. He should be dressed and shaved properly. If s/he has confusion about the costume it is safe to wear conservative formal dresses.

Remember names:

One must remember the names and designations of those with whom he has been introduced. This will make them feel important. Otherwise he may be thought to be unintelligent and disorganized or worse: that he simply doesn’t care.

Attention:

One must switch off his mobile phone before attending the conference. Otherwise, it may create disturbance and other may loss their attention.

Answering:

It is desired out of simple business manners that one should return phone calls and e-mails especially the ones s/he promised to.

The keys to business etiquette lies in the fact how one deals with the people in his surroundings. The moral of the story is one should give importance and respect to other people and co-workers.

Apart from these there is much etiquette to be followed in a business environment such as how to hold a fork and spoon properly in a dining table. These are required to be involved in corporate culture. But a fresher may not be too much worried about these. Because generally seniors do not mind for a minor mistake here and sometimes try to train him with a generous mind.

To Forgive

by: Scott F Paradis

Are you troubled and weary? Is something you are clinging to bringing you pain? Don’t succumb to the temptation to place blame. For the pain you feel is not from out there. The pain you feel inside, deep within your being – a sense of betrayal, loss, or bitter despair – is a feeling you manufacture, you nurture, you hold onto. This is not to say the circumstances you have endured are not deserving of an emotional release – just don’t allow that experience more than it is due. The tighter you cling to the pain (and the circumstances that triggered those feelings) the more power you give away. To be free to grow, to live and to love – you must move on, you must forgive.

Wherever ego looks, it sees conflict and division, pain and oppression. Ego’s tools are blame and fear. To move from the tempest to the calm, from trial to peace, from guilt to innocence, invest the talent and energy at your disposal to recognize the world for what it is — illusion. To embrace the true, enduring reality forgive those you perceive as trespassing against you and forgive the circumstances, the events, and the people you believe have conspired against you. By letting go of conflict you ultimately forgive yourself.

Remember these words: “I am responsible.” And “Forgiveness comes from forgiving.”

Life is to be lived. Whether you tend to believe you are journeying through the valley of death, or you are on a voyage of discovery, the truth is your final destination is the safety of a warm embrace and a loving home. To get to that destination do not squander your life, nor spend it frivolously wallowing in pain or self pity. Invest your treasure, your life and your love, freely in the lives of others. To do this you must be unencumbered by guilt and for peace to reign, you must forgive — all and always.

Today is not life in the fast lane; it is life in the oncoming lane. Ego puts you in the oncoming lane and accelerates life so that you find it difficult to hear the still small voice calling out to guide the way, the voice calling you home. Undo ego‘s obstacles to recognize the truth. The biggest obstacles to truth are the perceptions in your mind you have been wronged or you are unworthy of going home. Both these misperceptions (blame and fear) require true forgiveness.

Your ultimate task in life is to unleash yourself from the bondage of this world. The journey from sleep to wakefulness is made in small steps. You forgive by not judging, by accepting responsibility for all you experience, and by letting go of perceived hurts and injustices. You see, if this life is an illusion, then so are your perceptions of injustice. There is no one to blame and nothing to fear.

Forgiving is giving peace, allowing a smile, inviting laughter despite the circumstances. You are not separate from your creator. You are not alone. You are one — whole, complete, powerful, and loving. You are forgiven in the same measure as you forgive others. See your face in the face of your brother and your sister and know that you are one. This is your life – take responsibility for it and forgive all else.
