Amazon’s latest addition to the Kindle family is here. Well, it has been here for a long time already. Presenting Kindle, 3rd Generation. It comes in Wi – Fi + 3G and Wi – Fi only, costing $189 and $139, respectively. We are now aware of its 50% better contrast ration, longer battery life, and other improvements, however Kindle 3 has much more things to offer than you might have expected.
The following are 10 facts which may be relatively unknown about this wonderful e-book reader, the Kindle 3rd Generation.
1. Two dictionaries – The Oxford Dictionary of English joins forces with the New Oxford American Dictionary for international support.
2. Free PDF document delivery – PDF documents are delivered via your kindle email address, without any kind of 3G delivery feels. This file will only be downloaded via Wi – Fi.
3. Built-in microphone – However, as can be found in the manual, the microphone is disabled, as of the moment. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for some tech-wise geeks to dig into this one.
4. More PDF enhancements – The latest model of this e-book reader supports six contrast options. Additionally, a cursor can be used to highlight words on the screen.
5. Wi-Fi audible delivery – Audio books can now be transferred to your device over Wi-Fi without the use of any computers. For faster downloads, the 3G service will automatically shut off.
6. Web browser enhancements – With the new built-in browser, you can zoom, display sites at actual size, or fit page width to the device. Additionally, it features a text only Article Mode.
7. Download monitoring – E-books can now be downloaded in real time…perfect for antsy readers out there.
8. Full screen – Now, the book header can now auto-hide, thus leaving additional space for the text.
9. Time settings – Time can now be set manually…perfect when outside the 3G coverage area.
10. Alt+Del combination – Clear an entire line of text simply by pressing Alt and Del at the same time.
