Personal Integrity and Your Goals

Personal Integrity – Be True to Yourself and Reach Your Goals

By

Reaching your goals 1 300x198 Personal Integrity and Your Goals Whatever goals you set for yourself, you need to remain motivated if you hope to reach them. One of the best ways to tackle a goal is to break it up into smaller and more manageable chunks. That’s very good advice. However, somewhere along the line most people lose their motivation and they no longer focus on the goals they once wanted to achieve so badly. This can make it difficult to reach the goals you set for yourself. A more consistent way to reach your goals is to always keep your personal integrity intact. That means being true to yourself, being true to your word, letting your actions speak for you and, most importantly, doing the right thing. As long as you always keep your mind focused on sticking to your commitments, you’ll reach your goals in no time.

Always Be True

Personal integrity starts from within. You should never let others try to dissuade you from your goals or from the tasks required to reach them. If you truly want to reach a goal, start by truly believing in yourself. Envision yourself accomplishing that goal. See yourself mastering that task in order to complete your smaller goals and imagine how good you’ll feel when you finally do reach your coveted goals. Always be true to yourself and your personal integrity will never waver.

Too many people tell others about their goals and then fail to follow-through on them. A good example of this is the person who tells everyone they know that they’re going to quit smoking, only to end up with a cigarette in their mouth a few days later. That’s not living up to your word. Failing to live up to your word not only knocks down your personal integrity, but also causes you to feel guilty about dropping the ball with your goals. Don’t feel guilty; just move on. Learn from the mistake and live up to your word next time. Commit to yourself that you’ll do whatever it takes to accomplish what you set out to do. Hold yourself accountable and those tasks necessary to reach your goals will become easier and easier.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

You already know that in order to maintain your personal integrity you should follow through on what you say you’re going to do. What we tell ourselves about a specific task sets the tone of how we view the difficulty of that task, but words are just that – words. They really don’t mean much when it comes to accomplishing your goals. What matters most is how quickly and efficiently you complete the tasks that you commit to finishing. Let your actions speak louder than your words and not only will your personal integrity remain strong, but the strength of your resolve will empower you to achieve any goals that you set for yourself.

Do the Right Thing

Personal integrity is not a part-time job. You should set out to do the right thing even when nobody else is around. If you promise to always do the right thing, even when no one is watching and it’s tempting to let yourself slide, your personal integrity and confidence will be grow stronger than you ever dreamed. Maintaining your integrity will not only help you achieve your goals, but it will also make you a better person – and doesn’t want to be a better person?
