#1 Consistent Activity

Yes, consistent activity is a simple answer, but it is the best way to get and keep momentum. How many times have you watched a football team beat their rival and then next week lose to the worst team in the conference? They went and achieved a goal they set of beating their rival. But then the next week they went out and “laid an egg” and got beat by a team they should beat without even trying. The answer is losing momentum and focus.

The team thought since they beat their rival the rest of the teams would rollover and they did not have to try anymore. This is an example of how quickly a team or a person can lose momentum.

We all have experienced momentum as some point in time. We finally overcame a hurdle that always stopped us in the past or did something we never did before. The moment when you finally pushed past the obstacle is the time you need to keep doing the activity. Too many people feel they finally arrived, but do not realize they still have a little further to go to reach their full potential.

#2 Put in More Firewood

happy woman after a run 3 Ways To Startup Your Momentum Life is series of goals. No one finally “arrives.” The world is full of one hit wonders. For one week or one month they were best at what they do. However, they quit doing what they did to “arrive” in the first place. Rock bands are a prime example of one hit wonders. They even have TV shows for them and we can see what they are doing now. Most never recaptured that initial momentum when they had a hit song. It takes dedication and hard work to keep momentum for years at a time.

Look at bands like U2 and Metallica who have been producing quality records for over 25 years. Both have a large fan base of fans of all ages. Both bands know how to keep putting firewood in the furnace called momentum. Keeping momentum requires focus and pushing yourself to become better.

The firewood is developing more goals to achieve. This is how to keep momentum in your life. A basic goal many people in the sales business use is their annual income. If you never earned $100,000 in a year, but then finally this year you achieved this goal what should you do? The average person would celebrate for the first 3 months of the next year and then drift back to their normal level of income. The above average would look at the momentum they created and set a goal of $150,000 to earn the next year.

You want to keep pushing yourself to new levels of success after breaking through to your goal.

#3 Fight Discouragement

motivation 3 Ways To Startup Your Momentum On our journey towards our goals we will run into people who ask why you are still going after your goal. It is very discouraging to have people question your ability. The other obstacle is questioning ourselves and if we are doing the right thing or not. At this very moment we need to create momentum. Take a look at the first six letters of momentum. It is the word moment.

One of the problems many people have is they do not realize at a certain moment they have momentum. The reason being is we are distracted by all the activity around us in our daily lives. We are trying so hard to achieve our goals that one little discouraging word from someone or worse ourselves stops the momentum.

You need to treat momentum like precious and fragile jewelry. We work so hard to get the momentum we sometimes lose focus and drop the fragile jewelry and watch it break.

Do not let this happen to your momentum and goals. When you feel the energy to work you need to work twice as hard because if you rest the moment will be gone just like your momentum.
