Right now I'm setting the stage for the main rising action in book 2. It falls around chapter 9 or 10 of the story, where the main characters are in a sub reality, having to confront the entity who guards the exit. The main character of Book 2, James, is coming to realize his abilities are just at his finger tips, but we're not sure if he'll have what it takes to defeat the guardian.
It's exciting to write this part of the story, but there's still much more to do. As I write the main plot points of a chapter, I find myself going back and filling in more descriptive narrative, almost like combing over the work for a second and third time. This allows me to add thoughts, and perspectives to the scenes which are playing out. It's fun, and it's how I like books to read... so creating it is an exciting opportunity.
The biggest challenge I face these days is time. I'm diligently working towards promotions of Book 1, and things are definitely picking up. I have interviews to respond to, websites to build and populate, a second book to write, and even upcoming book signings in November and December. All with a baby on the way!!
I also have personal goals in my martial arts training which have to be reached by end of year, so all of this combined will make for an increasingly more challenging time management scenario. I believe I can do it, as it only takes discipline and planning. As long as I can get some decent writing time in each month for the second book, I believe I'll be on track to finish the first draft nearing January. Wish me luck!
