ACIM – Reality vs. Illusion

“A Course in Miracles“


is a self-study thought system, about undoing the blocks in awareness to the experience of love. It’s unique in teaching forgiveness to reach inner peace and the remembrance of the unconditional love of God. It is not a religion, nor does it require anything except your willingness, motivated by your own search for meaning in life.


A Course about ACIM itself…



Corrective learning begins with the awakening of spirit, and the turning away from belief in physical sight. (p. 22)


There are no idle thoughts. (p. 27)


Only those who give over all desire to reject can know that their own rejection is impossible. (p. 43)


Do not ask Spirit to heal the body. Ask rather that Spirit teach you the right perception of the body. (p. 146)


A therapist doesn’t heal, he lets healing be. (p. 161)


You will remember everything the instant you desire it wholly. To desire wholly is to create. (p. 164)


What is healing but the removal of all that stands in the way of knowledge. (p. 188)


What could you not accept, if you but knew that everything that happens, all events, past, present, and to come, are gently planned by One Whose only purpose is your good? (?)


You may believe that you are responsible for what you do, but not for what you think. The truth is that you are responsible for what you think, because it is only at this level that you can exercise choice. What you do comes from what you think. (?)


About Love…


Perfect love casts out fear. If fear exists, then there is not perfect love. (p.12)


Love will immediately enter into any mind that truly wants it. (p. 55)


Anger involves projection of separation, which must ultimately be accepted as one’s own responsibility, rather than being blamed on others. (p. 84)


You have so little faith in yourself because you are unwilling to accept the fact that perfect love is in you, and so you seek without for what you cannot find within. (p.293)


The search for love is but the honest searching out of everything that interferes with love. (p. 267)


Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. (?)


ACIM about reality and illusion…


This is a course in miracles. It is a required course. Only the time you take it is voluntary.

Free will does not mean that you can establish the curriculum.

It means only that you can elect what you want to take at a given time.

The course does not aim at teaching the meaning of love, for that is beyond what can be taught.

It does aim, however, at removing the blocks to the awareness of love’s presence,

which is your natural inheritance. The opposite of love is fear,

but what is all-encompassing can have no opposite.

This course can therefore be summed up very simply in this way:


Nothing real can be threatened.

Nothing unreal exists.

Herein lies the peace of God. (Intro)


The hidden can terrify not for what it is, but for its hiddenness. (p. 265)


Nothing you see means anything alone. (p. 268)


Clean but the mirror and the message shines forth. (p. 271)


Fantasies are the veil behind which truth is hidden. (p. 316)


Whenever your thoughts wander, enter with Him into a holy instant, and there let Him release you. He needs only your willingness to share His perspective to give it to you completely. (p. 323)


There is nothing outside you. (p. 358)


Heaven is not a place or a condition. It is merely an awareness of perfect oneness. (p. 359)


Let your self be one with something beyond it. (p. 361)


Seek not to change the world, but choose to change your mind about the world. What you see reflects your thinking. And your thinking but reflects your choice of what you want to see. (?)


Every thought you have makes up some segment of the world you see. It is with your thoughts, then, that we must work, if your perception of the world is to be changed. (?)


Every situation, properly perceived, becomes an opportunity to heal. (?)

Basic Beliefs of Eckankar

Harold Klemp, the spiritual leader of Eckankar, describes the basic beliefs of Eckankar as follows:


Drop cap The teachings of ECK define the nature of Soul more carefully than do other current religions. Each person is Soul, a particle of God sent into the lower worlds (including earth) to gain spiritual experience. Purified by the spiritual exercises, he comes into contact with the Holy Spirit. His goal is spiritual freedom in this lifetime, after which he becomes a Co-worker with God, both here and in the next world. Karma and reincarnation are primary beliefs.

Key to the ECK teachings is the Mahanta, the Living ECK Master. He has the special ability to act as both Inner and Outer Master for ECK students. He is the prophet of Eckankar, given respect but not worship. He teaches the sacred name of God, HU, which lifts one spiritually into the Light and Sound of God, the ECK.


The ECK (the Holy Spirit) purifies one of karma (sin), making it possible for him to accept the full love of God in this lifetime. Then he gains wisdom, charity, and freedom.


Personal experience with the Light and Sound of God is the cornerstone of Eckankar. Of all the religions on earth today, Eckankar offers the most direct teachings on the Light and Sound of God. These twin pillars are missing in whole or in part from the rest. People who truly find these two aspects of God undergo a complete spiritual change. Life becomes fresh and new again, as it was in early childhood.

Our Connection to Spirit

Spiritual Growth Requires a Reconnection to Spirit

When was the last time you consciously thought about the spirit or soul aspect of your beingness? Essential spirituality information requires you to seek this reconnection. Use your spiritual quest to advance your spiritual growth with a conscious and consistent association with your spirit.


As babies, we were born into this world in perfect balance in the mind, body, spirit being that we are. This is what I like to call the “love triangle.” As we grow, develop and define the world, we become less and less influenced by our spirit. Why is that? Because, just like all things in life, what becomes real in our lives is what we put our attention on.


The world we live in at this particular point in our evolution has not put a lot of time and attention on developing our spirit. We are constantly being conditioned to believe that our beingness is to be mostly concerned with our body and our mind.


Some people might say that is not true. They would say, “Look at all the religions and how we are seeking the word of God through our religious teachings.” There is much truth to this argument, but what is being promulgated and what our attention is being put on is the religion itself and not on our innate “spirit.”


The religion becomes the message and not the day-to-day influence of spirit without judgment or labels attached to it by each and every religion, according to its particular doctrine.


So our physical senses continually bring us a message that we identify ourselves as mostly a body and a mind. We put our attention on this never-ending conditioning and become less and less influenced by the spirit side of our beingness.


The love triangle adjusts accordingly and instead of the perfectly balanced mind, body, spirit being that we were when we entered this physical world we begin to view ourselves from a whole different perspective.


We are still a three-part being and we will always be a three-part being. It is just that the “spirit” part of our beingness has not received any attention and is therefore less influential in the decisions and choices we make in our lives.


The result of this neglect of our spirit is the startling revelation of how the love, that is the core of our beingness, also atrophies and is less influential when we lose our spiritual influence.


Wow! This is worth a big Ah-haaaaa. Our love quotient is way down when we lose the influence of our spirit. Somehow, that statement makes total logical sense. Not just physical sense but more importantly nonphysical sense.


The sense that comes from the more subtle aspects of our beingness. The sense that comes to us from the triune relationships in our lives. From the superconscious, conscious and subconscious. From the physical, the nonphysical, and the metaphysical. From the Father, Son and the Holy Ghost. From the mind, body and spirit.


This is the nature of our beingness in the world we live in today. This is “what is so.” It is neither right nor wrong. It is merely “what is so.”


The question we need to ask ourselves is this: “Does this serve me?”


Each of you must go within yourselves and answer that question. Your answer will determine who you choose to be, and from that beingness you will do the things it takes to manifest the beingness that you choose.


Make a conscious choice in this very present moment of now to “be” more spiritual. All it requires is to consciously allow your spirit to be an active participant in your decision making process. Make that choice today and reap the benefits of that choice for the rest of your life.
