How Your Belief Creates a Blueprint for Life

by: Wee Dilts

Introduction

The walls for your life blue print are strengthened with your believe in a power greater then yourself. You could liken the walls of a house to your beliefs. If you believe than your walls are strong.

Spiritual beliefs give us strength as lathe and plaster gives strength to the walls of a house. A brick or stucco house is like a strong belief in a power greater than our selves.

We trust our exterior walls to keep us warm in winter and cool in summer. It doesn’t matter if your walls are cedar, stucco, brick or vinyl. Likewise, It doesn’t matter what you believe as long as you believe in something.

In AA newcomers are told to come to believe in a power greater than them selves, even a door knob. In order to stay sober they must come to believe.

So in building your blueprint for life you must always believe in something to create strong walls for your house.

Whatever your religion or faith creating a strong wall of faith will serve you well.

Belief makes us strong and helps us to control how we live.

Eleanor Roosevelt , “I believe that you control your destiny, that you can be what you want to be. You can also stop and say, No, I won’t do it, I won’t behave this way anymore.”

Webster defines believe as holding an opinion. You have opinions right? Then you have the makings of belief and faith.

Webster also defines believe as to accept something as true, genuine or real so you surely have that much belief.

You probably have a belief but haven’t taken the time to define it. You may be a member of an organized religion. You can design a blue print for living no matter your religion or faith. It only requires you believe in something.

Examine:

Take a look at your own faith. What do you believe? Do you believe there is a power greater than you? If not try faking it for a week; absolutely trusting that if you fail, the Universe will keep on being the Universe.

G. K. Chesterton, “Faith Means believing the unbelievable.”

Let me ask you, if you passed away tomorrow, would the world stop? If you answer no, you have faith. There is something beyond you. So that is enough faith for you to start building the walls for your blueprint for living.

Now you can put in the rebar, lathe and plaster, add insulation and get ready for wiring.

You’ll add exterior stucco, brick, wood or vinyl.

Your faith provides you with the walls to protect you from the outside elements.

Consider:

Success means having the courage, the determination and the will to become the person you believe you were meant to be.

Belief is a building block of conscious thought. Just as mortar and brick are the building blocks for your exterior walls.

Belief is a habit of mind in which trust or confidence is placed in some person or thing. Do you believe the sun will rise tomorrow morning? Then you have faith.

Faith is base on the reality of some being or phenomenon based on examination of evidence.

If you didn’t belief you could hit a golf ball down the fairway you wouldn’t swing. Well with my golf swing, this might be a poor example.

Faith is certitude even where there is no evidence or proof.

Decide:

The relationship between belief and knowledge is subtle. People distinguish between what they know and what they believe. They consider both to be true.

Epistemology is the philosophical study of knowledge and belief. Knowledge can be thought of as justified belief. Belief is knowledge if the belief is true. And if the believer has justification for believing.

A false belief is not considered knowledge. A truth that nobody believes is not knowledge.

Beliefs are assumptions we make about ourselves, others and the world. And about how we expect things to be. How we think things really are.

Author Unknown, “Believe in your dreams and they may come true; believe in yourself and they will come true.”

Summary:

What ever you believe with feeling becomes your reality.

In building your blueprint for life you must have faith. As demonstrated above, you already have faith of some sort and that’s enough to start building the walls of your new life.

Walt Disney, “When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionable.”

I Believe In Life

Believe In Life

by: Scott F Paradis

What do you believe in? Do you believe in destiny? Do you believe in the system? Do you believe in yourself? In life after death? In God? We typically think of the word belief as an opinion or conviction about something – an existence not immediately susceptible to rigorous proof. The truth, however, is that your beliefs shape what you experience in this reality. What you believe matters.

The origin of the word “belief” offers a telling verse. Belief is a compound word with parts synonymous to: “be” – “by” and “lief” – “live.” Taken together, the meaning of something we “believe in” is something we “live by”. This etymology sheds light on the age old debate between the advocates of faith as a means to salvation and those that assert works are key to a full and fulfilling life. The word belief means that acts and faith are inextricably linked. What you do, the actions you take are in accordance with your beliefs. The proof of your faith is in your works – the truth of your words is in your deeds.

Relying on this meaning of the word suggests “beliefs” determine a worldview inextricably linked to how you live. Rational explanations (or intellectual fabrications) notwithstanding, beliefs organize your life. You do what you believe.

So, again: What do you really believe?

You can determine this only by observing how you live, how you respond to others, how you respond to the world around you, and what you in fact do.

Honestly making this assessment: Do you like what you see? Is it time to change?

By nature we are a nostalgic breed. It may be the distance of time, but it seems the only thing people prefer to the way things are, is the way things were. We seek security in the past and attempt to prolong the glory of prior triumphs. We resist change. But life doesn’t work that way. You see, life is on the move, life is constant change. You are on a journey from where you are to where you are meant to be.

Instead, of reminiscing or pining for the past, begin where you are now. Though you may temporarily succumb to doubt and fear, or mistakenly take a path of least resistance, recognize progress in this reality entails struggle and involves risk. It is time to act; it is time to change beliefs, to be what you really are, to become whole.

The purpose of life is to grow and expand. Sometimes, you might say often, the prospects of growth, with their attendant trials and tribulations, are uncomfortable and at times painful. The thing about life though is – you cannot get from the start to the end without going through the middle. So if you aspire to grow, if you aspire to learn, if you aspire to be and become – aspire to life. Believe in life and you will act accordingly.

10 Ways To Bring More Balance To Your Life

by: Michelle L. Casto

The World Health Organization has called stress a modern day epidemic affecting every person of every culture, educational status, and financial level across the world. Too much stress is the reason we end up sick and burned out. We know there must be something more than the hustle and bustle of modern-day life and yet forget to take the time to find our unique sense of balance.

Gandhi once said, “There is more to life than increasing its speed.” This is even more true in the modern world. It is essential then that you discover what will bring you a harmonious and balanced lifestyle. There are many ways to bring more balance to your life. Here are 10 ways I have found that work, which should get you thinking of even more uniquely suited to you.

1. Have Faith in a Higher Power

Voltaire once said, “Faith consists in believing when it is beyond the power of reason to believe.” Having faith in a higher power helps you face even the darkest hours. Faith gives you peace of mind and an open heart. It lights the dark tunnel and allows you to walk forward courageously.

Action Step: Choose a favorite inspirational quote about faith and put it in your wallet.

2. Assess Your Life

Human beings are similar to a computer: we both operate on programming. What we put in, we get back. And if we put in or take on too much, we get overloaded, and then burn out. Assessing where you are now will help you to know what to do, where to go, and what to leave behind.

Action Step: List all the stressful events that have happened to you in the last year.

3. Live By Your Values

Choose to make life choices that stem from your core values—those things that feed your soul. Values are intrinsic beliefs and feelings that develop from our experiences, backgrounds, and culture. You will be pleasantly surprised to find that when your orient your life around your values that life is much more to your liking.

Action Step: Identify and define your top 5 values.

4. Develop Boundaries

Boundaries are physical, emotional, and spiritual barriers that keep us safe, protected and nurtured. Having healthy boundaries empowers us to say no when appropriate and attract what we want into our life and keep out “garbage.” Boundaries show others that you love, care, and value yourself.

Action Step: Set a clear boundary with someone close to you this week.

5. Change Your Self-Talk

Balanced living requires balanced thinking. When negative thoughts come up, shut them out and focus on the positive. Your personal operating software is often running off of outdated and old tapes. Consciously create a new tape and upload it to your brain!

Action Step: Choose an affirmation that you love and say it out loud ten times every day.

6. Take Control

You are in control of your own life. Nobody makes you stay in bad situations. If you are in a job you despise, an unhealthy relationship, do not wait until you get fired or dumped. Choose to change. Recognize the cause of your discontent and take action.

Action Step: Make a change for the better starting now.

7. Clean up and Clear Out

Your physical surroundings have a major impact on your sense of balance. So if you live and work in chaos and clutter, you will feel off center. Cleaning up and clearing out your personal (mind-set and relationships) and environmental (home, office, car) spaces brings instant rejuvenation.

Action Step: Tackle a drawer, closet, or garage by the end of the week.

8. Eliminate Tolerations

If you are like most, you are tolerating way too much. A toleration is anything that is stressing you, for example: things that are undone, incomplete projects, and toxic people, places, or situations. Eliminating tolerations is a great way to unleash stored energy and power.

Action Step: Eliminate 3 tolerations from your life today.

9. Practice Wellness

Wellness means having a holistic program (mind, body, and spirit). Take care of your body by eating healthy, getting regular exercise and enjoying rest. Nurture your heart and mind with good friends, fun adventures, and learning new things. Refresh your spirit by reading inspirational books, attending church, spending time in nature, etc.

Action Step: Do 3 extra things to take care of yourself this week.

10. Simplify Your Life

The key to live more simply is to downsize and release unnecessary things from your life. Simple living is about living deliberately. You choose your existence rather than sailing through life. It is about finding your unique balance. Simplicity asks: Is it right for me? How do I want to live my life?

Action Step: Write your philosophy of an ideal life, incorporating elements you most cherish.

There are many ways to bring balance to your life. It starts with making smart decisions and becoming more aware of what makes you happy. Stress is not going away anytime soon, so you may as well start today by creating a program to manage it. Discover what works best for you and commit to doing it on a daily basis. You will quickly learn that balance is not just a nice idea, but an actual reality!
