Astral Projection FAQ

With more and more people shying away from conventional churches while still asking spiritual questions, phenomena such as astral projection have gained more and more interest. In this astral projection FAQ , I’ll answer a couple of questions people have about how it works.

What is astral projection?

Astral projection is an experience in which a person’s awareness goes outside their physical body. They’re able to see, hear and move around a seemingly real world, without their body actually being present. Sometimes, individuals may even see their own body lying in bed.

What’s the difference between astral projection, an out of body experience and remote viewing?

“Astral projection” and “out of body experience” generally refer to the same thing. But the term “astral projection” generally refers to the astral plane, which is considered to be an alternate dimension, or reality.

Remote viewing refers to similar psychic events that take place within a controlled environment. Remote viewing usually involves a viewer simply reporting on a scene in a distant place or time, without ever feeling they are outside their body.

Is astral projection real?

There are two parts to this question. The first is whether or not this experience actually happens to people. This is undoubtedly true, and you probably already know one or two people who’ve had some kind of out of body experience at least once in their lives. While many would not admit it for fear of ridicule, you might be surprised what people tell you if you bring up this topic of conversation.

The next part of the question is whether or not we actually view reality when we go into the astral plane. A number of experiments have been done at the Monroe Institute to try and ascertain whether or not what is seen out of body corresponds with physical “reality”. The jury is still out on this one.

Is astral projection dangerous?

Many people have the fear that if they’re outside of their bodies, they may stop breathing or functioning properly. There’s also the fear that once out, they may not be able to rejoin their bodies and will die. While it’s certainly recommended that you take care when performing astral projection, no evidence of death occurring is available.

A real danger posed by astral projection is what it will do to a person’s sense of reality. If you’re interested in exploring astral projection, remember that you can clearly understand the difference between the astral and physical planes. You can do this by writing down and reviewing astral projection experiences after you have them. Debriefing in this way will give you a real sense of where you are and what’s what.

How can I start doing astral projection?

There are a number of methods you can use to start astral projection. You might listen sounds known as binaural beats in headphones in order to alter your brain patters and start traveling outside your physical self. A number of different outlets sell such products.

If you just want to try it on your own, however, it’s very possible. Here’s one possible technique:

First off, lie down on your bed and quiet your mind. Relax your whole body, and keep your focus on a single point, such as your breathing.

Once you get to the stage that you’re halfway between wakefulness and sleep, simply imagine yourself being weightless, and rising up out of the bed, through the ceiling, and through the roof. Imagine looking back down on your house and the surrounding neighborhood as you continue to travel up and up.

If nothing else, this exercise should make you feel very relaxed. Don’t worry if you can’t get it straight away, or if you get scared and pull out. With consistent effort, you can start to do astral projection successfully. I’d recommend reading the books of Robert Monroe for more information on achieving out-of-body experiences. Take a Trip Outside of Yourself with Astral Projection

Astral projection is an out-of -body experience that can be achieved either during sleep, lucid dreaming, hypnosis, deep meditation or conscious projection. During astral projection the consciousness leaves the physical body and moves into the Astral or Etheric body in order to experience and learn. You remain attached to your physical body via the ‘silver umbilical cord’ and this cord cannot be broken until the time of death. It is quite possible to see this cord while astral traveling but it is not guaranteed. While your Astral body is out traveling your physical body is quite safe and rests in the sleep state.

The practice of Astral Travel has been around for decades, dating back to ancient China, it is a natural thing to do although many people do not realize that they are indeed traveling, this is usually due to a lack of awareness when out. Although simple to do during sleep, to consciously astral travel can be a little more challenging until mastered. In order to do this, hypnosis or deep meditation is used; you must feel completely relaxed, remove any fear blocks, position yourself in a reclining position and allow the process to happen. It is a good idea to keep the physical body covered with a warm blanket or similar, as it can become cold when you travel out.

Fly the Astral Skies

During Astral travel your spirit or Astral Body leaves the physical body and moves into the higher dimensions, of either the astral plane or the spirit world. Experiencing projection helps touch on life itself and gives us a glimpse into what happens after physical death. Through visiting other dimensions we are able to have teachings from spiritual teachers and thus gain wisdom to help during our physical lives.

When you project you do not have to go through a white light or a tunnel as people have reported during a near death experience. Astral projection is not related to near death experience at all – it is simply an out of body experience. It is possible to gain access and view the Akashic records in order to learn spiritually during Astral travel, because space and time do not exist in the realms of the Astral or higher realms, everything is right here and now, you simply think of where you want to go and you are there immediately!

Astral travelers may travel from one realm to another through ‘thought’ alone, contrary to how we use our five senses here on the physical world, during out of body experiences we use our sixth senses. Communication is via ‘thought’ or Telepathy, Feeling, Knowing and there are no limits on what can be seen as we are able to see in every direction, in front, behind, to the side, above, below, and beyond. There are no physical boundaries in these dimensions and normal physical laws do not apply so we are free to fly, jump, float, walk through walls if that is what we so desire.

The environments are varied, they can be unpopulated or populated, the colors vibrant to the degree that they are not recognized in the physical world, there can be buildings or simple landscapes, beautiful scenery, roads, mountains, retreats or even an astral counterpart of a physical location you are familiar with in the physical world.

It is possible to see Entities who are of different forms; they are not only in human form. They can be Angels, spirit guides, friends, pets, deceased loved ones or pets, even beings from different dimensions can be met even other astral travelers.

The astral plane is a fantastic place to travel and explore, it operates at a much higher frequency then we experience on the earth plane and it is possible to see many things that are not on this earth at present. Some may have been present at some point in the past on earth or they may appear on earth in the future, even animals that became extinct on the earth plane can be seen in the astral planes – because there is no death of the etheric body. In every day life in every instant on earth we are actually walking through people and objects that exist on a different dimensional plane, these dimensions are not only all around usFree Articles, they permeate all things. For further information on this I suggest reading basic Quantum physics and also about the Space Time Continuum .

Through experiencing astral projection it gives you a good insight that people and objects that exist on other realms are in fact as real as we experience any object or person on our earthly terrain.

Expand your horizons and your consciousness and allow yourself to travel to places you never even dreamed of. This will increase your awareness of so much that you never thought was possible.

I found myself in the Astral

An astral experience

By Dimi

An experience in the astral

A little while ago, I found myself in the astral, but the simplicity of that experience is what struck me. It left me with such a deep impression of that moment in time. Why that event? I don’t know, but it has been something I wanted to share with others. Perhaps because of its simplicity; perhaps because it had all the hallmarks of astral projection; perhaps because it was the result of a conscious effort to get there; nonetheless, this is what unfolded…

I had woken up at 4am to do an astral practice. I had planned to start the practice with the mantra “O” and to then prepare the body with relaxation and focused concentration on the heart beats. I even placed my right hand on my chest in line with my heart (something I had not done before now), so that I could feel the heart beats more intensely to start with. I remained in that position for the entire practice.

My body got heavier. I could no longer feel my feet or the weight of my legs. I remembered where I had positioned my hands and arms, yet I could no longer feel them. I also knew that it was most important to remain still and to continue hearing and focusing on the heart beats, which had become louder and more easily felt throughout my body, pulsating, radiating outwards, helping this sensation in my body to expand and make me forget the feeling of having a body.

Then I felt a different sensation take over, one of numbness. It was accompanied by a tingling sensation throughout the body. At this point, I noticed this subtle temptation to move, to break the stillness and the concentration. It also introduced a level of tension in my mind and in my body. It was a crucial point. It became even more necessary to relax and to remain focused, concentrated on the heart beats.

By concentrating on the heat beats, focusing my attention on the sensations of each beat pulsating, I found myself easing back into the experience, without a thought in my mind, without any physical tension in my body. I had managed to relax back into the astral practice with my body and mind.

I began to feel the sensations of numbness yet again. I remained focused. The numbness remained but also developed into a tingling sensation that came over my body, soon followed by a natural lightness, a weightlessness that felt familiar. I took note of all these sensations, these changes going on from within, without judgment or comment, without disturbing or disrupting the flow. I began to feel even lighter.

Then I heard this clicking noise as though something had unlocked itself or become separated, accompanied by a buzzing noise – like that of engines – in my ears. It got louder. It too was familiar. That’s when I felt myself start to float up, to separate from my physical body.

I kept floating upwards, looking at the white ceiling above me. I could sense the outline of all the other objects in my room, but kept my focus at the ceiling as I continued floating upwards and closer to it. The ceiling fan did not get in my way as I kept floating. I got so close that my nose nearly touched it!

Instinctively I knew that I would continue floating up and through the ceiling. At that point, I decided to turn around, to do 180 degrees turn and face my bed. I knew I would see myself lying there, my body sleeping. In that instant, I found myself turning and facing downwards. Sure enough, there I was, lying in my bed, my physical body sleeping, resting. I wondered if this was real. I then found myself looking closer at the detail of my body laying there, my legs, the bed sheet, and my head and…my arm over my chest at the position of the heart!! I felt a smile come over from within. The confirmation of the realness of this experience was most welcomed.

I quickly felt myself float down much faster than floating up and enter my body almost like a flash. There I was, eyes opening up, awake in my body and… with my hand over my chest at the position of the heart. I stayed in that position for a while, letting the significance of what had happened sink in and so as not to forget the details of the experience.
