Wanna Change The World? Here’s How.

Do You Want to Change the World? You Can

By

There appears to be so much wrong in the world. I sincerely would not have enough space within this blog post to list all the things that many people today are fearful, concerned, and saddened about in our world. Suffering appears to be alive and well and despite our advances as human beings, for some reason, when it comes to suffering, we never see an end to it.

For most of us, we want so much to help, but the problems are so overwhelming, we are paralyzed to do anything because we do not feel that we could make a difference. Our feeble money contributions or volunteering do not make a dent in the problems we see. And what about within our own lives, where we try so hard to become better people, yet trouble still finds us in so many ways. Violence, suicide, depression, and substance abuse rates are all rising. You will not be able to go very far without meeting someone that is going through a really rough time right now.

While it is true that as one person, you may not be able to solve all the world’s problems, you can make a major impact on the suffering of people in the world in your own special way. Now I know this has been said before and it is very hard for us to believe since we cannot directly see the results of any effort we put towards helping others, but it quite true that you can, singlehandedly, change the world.

There are three integrated phases to implementing a plan to change the world. Strangely many people are gifted with all three of these phases without any recommendations, but most of us have to make a very focused effort to intend these changes into our lives. The reason we have to try so hard to implement a major change for good in our lives is because we are so programmed, via culture, society, media and so on, to look at things from the lowest point possible. This is the epidemic we are trying to cure, so we must first consider our own viewpoint in order to facilitate any change to ourselves and to others.

This is somewhat simplistic, and there are thousands of ways to institute a change in your life that lifts you up above the constant and persuasive impressions we have of general suffering, but the bottom line is that all change must begin with you. This is the first and most critical part of change. You must consider yourself a source of healing energy and source of energy to others. If you look at any source of energy that you know of, you must agree that in order to get any benefit from that source, the power must be ignited with some type of fuel. In our case, that fuel is positive energy with intention, and love of self.

We know now scientifically and spiritually that we are a tremendous source of energy. It is measurable and very real. This energy can either be an energy that emits light and healing vibrations, or it can be an energy that emits anxiety and fearful vibrations. It is in our choices with our thoughts and feelings that determine how this energy is going to be dispersed out to others. By choosing to immerse our thoughts, energy, feelings and emotions within a state of love, peace, well-being, and happiness, we create a state of vibrant and useable energy. This concept of internal energy and states of vibration based on our choices in thoughts and emotions is now being demonstrated in some of the most intriguing and amazing scientific studies, but nevertheless this concept also goes back to ancient spiritual teachings as well.

Assuming that we have been working on getting our personal vibrations humming to a highly resonating state of love, peace, joy and happiness, the next phase of changing the world comes by connecting to our immediate sphere of influence with this state of being. This is simple to demonstrate and in fact you have seen this happen before in your own life. If someone walk into a room and is angry, bitter, or complaining, regardless of how festive or light the energy was before, the mood of the entire room will shift to a negative or neutral state. Contrarily, feelings of joy, laughter and great compassion demonstrated in a room full of people that are neural or even in a negative state, will diffuse the negative states to touch others in the room with the joy, laughter, or the compassion that is being demonstrated. This is exactly how phase two works. It is not your responsibility for “forcing” or motivating the others into this state. Your contribution is being in the state already of joy, compassion, love, and peace.

The third phase in changing the world is then expanding this powerful vibrational energy that you are feeling in a more collective and global fashion. We do this through maintaining our state of being (joy, love, compassion, peace) for sustained periods of time and by making a conscious act of “giving” away this energy to others. This conscious effort can be through meditation, prayer, focused intention, or just a powerful knowing that people and situations are being blessed by the loving energy you are placing onto them. You are not responsible for seeing the results or specifics related to this effort on your part to share your abundant loving vibrations, but you will be a recipient of a reciprocal peace and joy that comes from unconditional giving.

This method may seem too simple, or you may feel like you have tried it before and it hasn’t worked – but my guess is that if you have tried it before and did not see results (only the ego “needs” to see results from an altruistic action), you may have unconsciously shifted from the high energy giver to feeling like you have a need somewhere and your energy has waned or even turned into a more negative vibration.

There is an urgent need for mankind to take a look at the way we view the world and its suffering. When we get pulled into the propaganda of fear, anguish, dissention and turmoil, our perspective is from the lowest point possible. Without taking anything away from the call to action to attend to those that are suffering, we must lift our perspective of these scenes to a dimension of healing and hope. This changed perspective can only be done if we have done it within ourselves first. We become the teachers and healers of the world when we teach and heal ourselves of our limitations, bias, and ego conditioning. Take comfort in the idea that any progress made towards expanded consciousness and release of fear, either individually or globally, makes a difference and cannot be taken away. You can change the world, and you do it literally one thought at a time.

Here is a sweet story that I cherish that demonstrates how one person can make a difference. Never take yourself for granted. You have tremendous power to help yourself and many, many, others.

One day, an old man was walking along the beach in the early morning and noticed the tide had washed thousands of starfish up on the shore. Up ahead in the distance he spotted a boy who appeared to be gathering up the starfish, and one by one tossing them back into the ocean.

He approached the boy and asked him why he spent so much energy doing what seemed to be a waste of time.

The boy replied, “If these starfish are left out here like this they will bake in the sun, and by this afternoon they will all be dead.”

The old man gazed out as far as he could see and responded, “But, there must be hundreds of miles of beach and thousands of starfish. You can’t possibly rescue all of them. What difference is throwing a few back going to make anyway?”

The boy then held up the starfish he had in his hand and replied, “It’s sure going to make a lot of difference to this one!”
