Positive Thinking – 3 Secrets You Must Know

Positive Thinking – The 3 Revolutionary Secrets You Should Know

by: Amanda Walker

Positive thinking is a mind frame which expects happiness, joy, health and a successful outcome of every situation. When this belief is so powerful, this expectation is always reached by that individual. With positive thinking many people fear this because they don’t want to ‘build themselves up’ for a big win, only to find that they sink to a greater low, when they lose. This attitude may be influenced by past experience, where a person may have taken many ‘knocks’ in their lifetime i.e. lose of job, failed relationships or unsuccessful marriages. Therefore, these people have the tendency to always fear the worst outcome of every situation. Every time this negative cycle is reinforced, expectations are lowered and negative outcomes are generated. But we can reverse negative thinking by doing the following;

1) BE AWARE OF YOUR NEGATIVE THOUGHTS

Through your day to day life, many opportunities will come your way i.e. a chance to implement some new computer software at work, an invite to a restaurant, a chance to join the gym etc. Many thoughts will pass through your mind, shall I or shan’t I? But take time to suppress the negative thoughts and think of them in a new light. With our first example, the advent of some new computer software will be expensive; it will bring about big changes, jobs maybe made redundant, and the system maybe complex and difficult to learn. But the positive aspects of this opportunity include increased efficiency, time saving and an updated IT infrastructure. The second example of a potential invite to a restaurant could mean having to spend money, waste time and missing out on a favourite programme. Or it could mean spending time with a friend, trying a new cuisine and networking with other people. The third example of a chance to join the gym could mean spending more money, being tired,aching muscles or it could mean being fitter and healthier. Positive people will take the opportunities on board and be successful whereas negative people will ignore all the opportunities and will therefore never move forward.

2) BEFRIEND POSITIVE PEOPLE

Positive thinking and attitude expressed by people around you is contagious. A simple rule of physics, positive attracts positive and positive repels negative. By attracting positive people, you will find yourself thinking in a new way, seeing the whole picture rather than just one part. You mind will become more receptive to new ideas and hence you can progress further in both work and life.

3) AVOID NEGATIVE PRESS

Newspapers and magazines are designed to prey on your worst fears. They sell more material in this way rather than through ‘happy’ stories. Newspapers and magazines provide people with food for negative thoughts i.e. images of perfect celebrity figures, scandals, affairs, famines. By listening to happy music, watching comedy films or programmes, you will find yourself in a more positive mind frame.

The more positive you are, the more positivity will be generated both within yourself and around you. Positive thinking and being positive provides an energy that can change your whole outcome of life. Therefore it is a power worth harnessing.
